P1 Group Team Las Vegas: Meet Catalina De Leon
This is the time of year some people might question their decision to live in Las Vegas, NV.
“When I got up this morning at 5 a.m. for a walk, it was already 96 degrees,” P1 Group Office Manager Catalina (Cat) De Leon told us at the time of this interview in late July.
But Cat loves living in Vegas. A native of the Texas/Mexico border, Cat commuted to school in Texas because her parents lived on the Mexico side. She moved to Vegas in 2004.
“One of my favorite things about Las Vegas is the people,” Cat said. “You meet interesting people from all over the country here, and many of the people I’ve met have turned out to be great friends.”
A self-proclaimed homebody, Cat says she rarely visits the commercial spots, like the famous Strip, except when family or friends come to visit.
“It’s kind of nice, because when I want to show visitors all the hot spots, it’s like I become a tourist myself all over again,” Cat said.
And being a homebody this time of year in Vegas comes highly recommended.
“Summer is a time to stay indoors,” Cat said. “Just like people around Kansas City stay in during the cold winters, we tend to stay in during the intense summer months.”
Between her hobbies of drawing and spending time with her 13-year-old daughter Talya, Cat has plenty to occupy her time inside.
“I like to draw and spend time with my daughter,” Cat said. “We’ve been binge watching Downton Abbey together and she loves it. We’ve probably watched that series four times now!”
In fact, Cat says having her daughter home from school during the COVID-19 lockdown was pretty great.
“Between me working and her being in school, I don’t usually get to spend that much time with her,” Cat said. “Being at home together, managing her school work, and coming up with different tasks for her so we didn’t get bored was really enjoyable.”
She also took the time to perfect her homemade tortilla game.
And of course, Cat has plenty going on at the busy P1 Group Las Vegas office, where she started eight years ago as the receptionist with a total office/field staff of about 12.
Today, the office has 156 associates and Cat wears many hats, working with service, construction, and everything in between. She says the excitement of the variety keeps her very happy in her work.
“It’s been really exciting to watch all the different teams form and grow together,” Cat said. “And the original associates are still here, which is a blessing as we continue to grow. Everyone has done their part to bring in business and support our growth.”
P1 Group and the Las Vegas team are lucky to have you, Cat!
