Happy Earth Day from P1 Group's Green Team

Earth Day P1 Group

Celebrating Earth Day’s 50th Anniversary

In the midst of social distancing and staying at home to slow the spread of COVID-19, it’s more important than ever to do our part to reduce, reuse, and recycle. In June of 2018, P1 Connection brought you a story about the recycling efforts of P1 Group and one of the program’s biggest champions, Manpower Coordinator Assistant Emily Barber.

A lot has changed since then. P1 Group has continued to reduce our carbon footprint with initiatives to eliminate waste. And what better time than the 50th anniversary of Earth Day to look at what we’ve done...and what we can still do.

In addition to robust recycling efforts in all office spaces and the fabrication shop, P1 recently provided all associates with personalized tumblers to eliminate the use of Styrofoam and disposable drinkware. Additional “guest” mugs were purchased to extend this initiative to those visiting P1.

In 2020, a new Green Team kicked off their official committee. Each person on the team is passionate about putting green efforts into practice, as well as educating others about how they can do the same.

The Green Team will be looking to get rid of even more one-time use disposable items, as well as placing more recycling bins and signage around our locations. They will be educating P1 Grou associates throughout the year about ways to help P1 Group get even greener.

What's Your One Thing?

One small gesture, by many, makes a huge difference. Here are some tips from the Green Team on what you can do at work and beyond.

1. Stop using plastic grocery bags. Bring your own bag to the store.

2. Bring your own re-useable plates and utensils to keep in your desk at work for meals.

3. Be mindful of what you purchase, the packaging, and how it’s being used/disposed of.

4. Simply get in the habit of recycling appropriate items (especially at work, where the bins are available to you).
