Annual Golf Tournament Raises Funds for Warriors' Ascent
The 16th annual P1 Group Charity Golf Tournament on October 13 raisedThe 16th annual P1 Group Charity Golf Tournament on October 13 raised $14,262 for Warriors’ Ascent, a Kansas City-based organization thatserves veterans and first responders to help them cope with moralinjuries they’ve suffered in the line of duty.
Warriors’ Ascent was founded in 2014 by two Iraq combat veterans,and has since served more than 300 veterans and first responders struggling with post traumatic stress through a five-day program runeight to 10 times per year.
Through meditation, fitness, nutrition and cathartic rituals borrowed from ancient warrior traditions, Warriors’ Ascenthelps put participants on the path to self-healing while gaining a sense of community with others who have had similar experiences.
Mike Kenny, Executive Director of Warriors’ Ascent, said they budget approximately $2,000 to bring a person through the program. So, the $14,000+ raised at the tournament will help seven people.
“That’s significant, this is who we are and what we do,” Kenny said. “Attendees pay nothing and, bottom line, we save lives.”
Over the years, P1 Group has raised more than $124,000 for local andarea charities with the golf tournament.P1’s vendors have helped significantly over the years by donatingraffle prizes worth thousands of dollars. Pay-to-play challenges on thecourse also bring in money and P1 Group matches the funds raisedeach year.
