A P1 Service electrical apprentice won the 2016 IBEW 7th District/ NECA District V Outstanding Inside Apprentice award.

And not only did Darin Mason win the contest on March 21 in Tucson, Ariz., he set a record.

Mason is an apprentice with IBEW 226 Topeka. He is currently working with P1 Service  on Wefald Hall, the new dormitory under construction at Kansas State University.

At the NECA contest, Mason achieved a score of 144 out of a possible 150, the highest score recorded of any winner since IBEW began tracking scores in 2002. He scored a perfect 50 on the practical exam, a 46 on the code exam and a 48 on the theory portion of the test.

“Darin did an outstanding job at the contest and is most worthy of carrying the honor of 2016 Outstanding Inside Apprentice,” said J.T. Osborn, Field Representative for the NECA Southern Region.

Congratulations, Darin, from all of us at P1 Service!
