Each year, P1 Group awards a Construction Science Scholarship to a student an Kansas State University with the goal of encouraging our next generation to continue their education in construction science and engineering.
This year’s recipient is Atwood, KS, native and K-State junior Jorge Chacon.
Recently, CARES Act (Coronavirus Aid, Relief, and Economic Security) funding has made its way to many organizations, including the University of Kansas (KU). When the University received the funding, one of the projects they decided upon was replacing faucets and flush valves with touchless fixtures in public spaces.
P1 Group was awarded a portion of the installs, which had to be done across the campus in just two weeks.
When teamwork happens the way it is supposed to, it can produce incredible things. This was demonstrated by the large team that pulled together for the multi-phase HVAC improvement project at Cleveland University. Not only did the customer get a top-notch product, the project illustrates the benefits of working with a single-source provider.
When a vendor working with Paola USD 368 discovered sludge and other performance issues with the high school’s 30-year-old hydronic piping system, he thought P1’s Performance Solutions group might be just the team for the job.
As a prestigious partner with the Kansas Association of School Boards (KASB), P1 Group already had a relationship with Paola superintendent Matt Meeks. P1 Group connected with Matt during KASB BOLD, an educational program for new superintendents for which P1 Group provided training in our Lenexa Training Facility.

TONGANOXIE, Kan. - On average Kansas public school districts spend 9.85 percent of their annual operating budgets on facilities, maintenance and utilities. With available resources shrinking, administrators face a daunting challenge maintaining school facilities.
Tonganoxie schools recently utilized the P1 approach to save the district money. After switching from the previous preventive maintenance contract, USD 464 saved more than $60,000 a year. P1 assisted the district with identifying all equipment in each of the eight school buildings and worked with them to create a task list to prioritize which items required attention first.
LAWRENCE, Kan. - Growing our community is an activity that we take great pride in at P1. It was our pleasure this week to host the K-State MCA chapter, and give them a tour of our fabrication shop in Lawrence. The Construction Science students were shown different stages of the construction process from drawings, to detailing, to the fabrication of spool sheets. We look forward to continuing our partnership with the future leaders of our industry.
OLATHE, Kan. - In February 2015, the Kansas State Olathe campus conducted an Energy Optimization Assessment with P1 Group Inc. The assessment was a comprehensive energy audit of the heating, ventilation and air conditioning, or HVAC, system on the campus. Energy expenses were surpassing those built into the campus' operating budget after just two years of use with the HVAC system and the campus at only half occupancy. P1 Group and Kansas State Olathe used a retro-commissioning approach to evaluate the campus' HVAC system.
