When Operations Coordinator Cindy Barnett joined P1 Group last spring, she brought her quirky, fun, upbeat vibes to P1 Group’s Topeka office.
Cindy reminds us all that in addition to a positive attitude and getting the job done, we must remember not to take life too seriously.
If you haven’t had the pleasure of speaking to Cindy, it’s your loss. With an advertising and sales support background spanning well over 20 years,Cindy is no stranger to customer service and making people feel special.
And now Topeka service techs rely on her to get needed parts that keep projects moving efficiently.
But like most of us, Cindy jumps in where needed: special projects, working with the shop, prepping for big meetings and backing up dispatch.
Prior to applying, Cindy knew a couple P1 Group associates over the years whose experiences gave her a positive impression of the company.
“I always wanted to work at P1 because I could tell they really care about families,” Cindy said.
Cindy appreciates the family vibe at P1 Group because her own is so close, personally and geographically.
After 40 years of marriage, to her high school sweetheart, three children, and now seven grandchildren, the Lawrence, KS, resident says she’s “doing things backward”.
“While everyone was out having fun, I was raising a family. Now that’s done, I get to do a lot of fun things like travel, gardening and vintage shopping,” Cindy said.
When she found herself in need of a career change, Cindy eagerly answered a P1 Group ad for a project coordinator.
“I saw the ad and thought, I can do that job,” she said.
Cindy was actually called in to interview for a Topeka dispatch job that had also opened, but Vice President Mitch Campbell saw a different opportunity for her.
“In my interview I’m selling how good I’d be at this dispatch job when Mitch mentioned another position that would help with sales,” Cindy explained.
“I was like REALLY!? I was so excited.”
The rest is history. “I feel like I’ve worked here forever,” Cindy says.
And that’s a good thing.
“I couldn’t work with a better group [operations]. I immediately felt like I had known them for a long time.”
