Warriors’ Ascent was founded in 2014 by two Iraq combat veterans, and has since served more than 300 veterans and first responders struggling with post traumatic stress through a five-day program runeight to 10 times per year.
Through meditation, fitness, nutrition and cathartic rituals borrowed from ancient warrior traditions, Warriors’ Ascenthelps put participants on the path to self-healing while gaining a sense of community with others who have had similar experiences.
Mike Kenny, Executive Director of Warriors’ Ascent, said they budget approximately $2,000 to bring a person through the program. So, the $14,000+ raised at the tournament will help seven people.
“That’s significant, this is who we are and what we do,” Kenny said. “Attendees pay nothing and, bottom line, we save lives.”
