Wayside Waifs didn’t know it at the time, but when the Louisville Cardinals won the NCAA men’s basketball national championship, $560 instantly became earmarked for donation to the Kansas City animal shelter.
That’s because Louisville’s win in the final game meant P1 Group associate Randy Presley had the winning bracket in the annual P1 Group Charity Bracket Challenge. For the challenge, P1 associates, family and friends were invited to fill out a bracket for five dollars. The overall winner of the challenge was given the opportunity to select an approved charity that would receive the proceeds of the entry fees.
Presley said that he chose Wayside Waifs because the organization was close to his family as they have adopted four dogs from the shelter. (He also mentioned that he may have had help filling out his bracket from a relative…)
Wayside Waifs is a charitable animal shelter whose purpose is to place adoptable companion animals in responsible homes. To accomplish this, the organization employs 3 key strategies: Providing temporary shelter for homeless companion animals; educating the public; and developing partnerships, collaborations and strategic alliances.
