TOPEKA, Kan.- P1 Group was awarded the second phase of the three-phase design-build retrofit upgrade for a data center in Topeka, Kan. requesting confidentiality.
P1’s design incorporated converting some of the HVAC computer room units to air cooled models to provide partial redundancy to ensure up time. The updated design also modified the airflow patterns in the spaces to a hot isle, cold isle design to increase efficiency and reduce overcooling in which earlier designs experienced.

P1 Group was awarded the second phase of this project in February 2012 and expects to complete it by August 2012.

P1 Group completed the first phase in November 2011. The first phase consisted of replacing five systems totaling 75 tons of cooling capacity, along with a controls upgrade for the condenser water plant that serves the data center.
