P1’s design-build team earns national recognition for Siemens US Nacelle Facility

P1 Group’s design-build team recently earned a Design-Build Institute of America (DBIA™) Honor award in the Industrial/Process/Research Facilities category for its construction services on Siemens – US Nacelle Facility in Hutchinson, Kansas. P1 Group shares this honor with Gray Construction, Hoss & Brown Engineers (P1’s engineering partner), Shambaugh & Son, L.P., and Amteck of Kentucky.

In 2010, P1 Group was awarded the design-build mechanical work for the first and second phase of Siemens’ wind turbine nacelle production facility. Paul McAnerney, project manager; Terry Landweir-Brown, sheet metal foreman; and Chuck Bennett, piping/plumbing foreman, oversaw this project to ensure that it was completed on time and within budget. According to DBIA™, The 2012 National Design-Build Awards program was the most competitive to date, and this year’s submissions were rigorously judged by a distinguished panel composed exclusively of owners and DBIA™ professionals.

In addition to the DBIA™ award, this project is Siemens’ first LEED Gold certified production facility in the U.S. and the first LEED Gold new construction/industrial site in Kansas.

The Design-Build Institute of America will honor the winners at the 2012 Design-Build Conference and Expo in New Orleans, LA.
