P1 Group wins mechanical project at KU Med’s Wahl/Hixon Research Complex

KANSAS CITY, Kan. – P1 Group, Inc. is pleased to announce it has won the first phase of the Wahl/Hixon Research Complex mechanical renovations at the University of Kansas Medical Center in Kansas City, Kan. P1 Group will renovate the ground through fourth floors of Wahl Hall on a fast schedule to provide new cancer research laboratories for KU Med.

This project was awarded in January 2010 and is expected to be completed by February 2011.

Scope of Work

  • Plumbing to new lab equipment
  • New ductwork
  • 5 new AHUs (A new five-story tower is being added onto the building to accommodate the new AHUs)
  • New chilled water and heating hot water pumps, and steam heat exchangers

 Congratulations to the following associates who were integral in securing this work for P1 Group:

  • Clint Zier, Project Engineer

 Brock Ryan, pipefitter foreman, and David Pierce, plumbing foreman, will help supervise this project.

 The University of Kansas Medical Center is comprised of The School of Medicine, School of Nursing and School of Allied Health. It has almost 3,000 students and treats over 19,000 patients per year.
