P1 Group to upgrade KU MRB central plant for pharmacy

LAWRENCE, Kan. – P1 Group, Inc. is pleased to announce it has won even more business on the University of Kansas campus. Just as P1 Group finishes up its work on the KU tunnel project, P1 will now perform central plant upgrades at the KU Multidisciplinary Research Building. The upgrades will serve all of west campus and provide for planned future expansions.

The project is scheduled to be completed by May 2010.

Scope of Work

  • Add a new 500 hp boiler
  • Add a 1,500 ton chiller
  • Upgrade controls with new Johnson Controls systems

More than 200 scientists, students and other research staff work in KU’s Multidisciplinary Research Building. Research performed includes many subjects, including drug discovery and delivery, bioinformatics, stable isotope geology and nanoscience.
