P1 Group, Inc. held its annual charity golf tournament on September 17 at Drumm Farm Golf Course in Independence, Mo. Despite a cold and wet forecast, the scramble format tournament attracted 140 participants. This year, all proceeds benefited the ALS Association, an organization devoted to fighting amyotrophic lateral sclerosis, or Lou Gehrig’s disease.
Participants were encouraged to donate by taking part in several pay-to-play challenges, including a putting contest and multiple par 3 contests challenging participants to hit the green off the tee. P1 Group also raised by money by holding a raffle with vendor-donated prizes.
P1’s fundraising efforts resulted in $7,500 that the company was able to give to the ALS Association.
Gary Sowle, Sam Sowle, Scott Schoonover and Tad Gebhards, 2010 first place winners in the A-flight, repeated as victors in 2011 with a score of 59. The putting contest resulted in a three-way tie, with Alan Cabe winning the playoff. Don Irwin and Joel Nickel each won par 3 contests.
